Here is a summer road trip checklist you can check yourself or have Matts auto service check for you.

    1. Check air pressure and tires – Place a penny head first into several tread groves, if any part of Lincoln’s head is obscured by the tire tread, your tires are fine. Otherwise, your tire treads are too shallow causing hydroplaning and you should replace them. Check the driver side door jam (or manual) to find the correct tire pressure, also improving gas mileage.

    2. Check the A/C to see if it still blows cold and pay attention to any strange noises or smells. The system may need cleaning, have a leak or need to be recharged. We can check this for you.

    3. Inspect the wiper blades and wiper fluid.

    4. Check the battery, alternator visually and with an electronic battery checker/charger.

    5. Check oil levels manually (you don’t have to wait for the oil light) and change oil if needed or close to it’s time.

    6. Check all fluid levels such as coolant, brake fluid, transmission. This is part of our inspection anyway. We considered it a curtesy to check all fluid levels when addressing at least one of these items listed above.

    7. Brake noises or even loss of brakes and reduced pedal strength should be addressed as quickly as possible.

    8. Check all belts for wear and tear.

    9. We can fix and clear all codes your vehicle maintenance lights may be flashing.

    10. Common problems listed below:

    AC
    Shocks/Struts
    Oil change
    Brakes
    Tuneup
    Belts and hoses
    Water pump
    Fuel pump
    Water pump
    30k 60k 90k vehicle service

We’ll have your vehicle ready for a long hot summer.
